Legacy migration holds key to business success

Legacy migration is something many organizations will be challenged with as applications become dated and new technologies emerge. Lou Ennuso, CEO of data integration software company Adeptia, said an organization's ability to be successful can hinge in part on how it deals with old applications.

There are three things Ennuso sees taking place with legacy migration:

  • Consolidation as a result of mergers and acquisitions
  • Migration of data from an old application to a new one
  • Data availability to end users and business communities

Ennuso said the last piece of the puzzle, getting data to end users, is at the center of the biggest challenge organizations face with legacy migration. "Getting data to where it's needed, any time, any place, anywhere sounds simplistic, but it's the key to corporations thriving today," he said.

Making integration technology suites easy to use will free up IT's time to do more challenging and expensive work. "You don't need a data architect to do mundane connections," Ennuso noted.
