Sun ONE

Show me everything on Sun Microsystems Web services

DEFINITION - Sun ONE (Sun Open Net Environment) is a marketing strategy and set of products from Sun Microsystems aimed at enabling an enterprise to build Web services for its own internal use and for its customers. Like Microsoft's .NET initiative and IBM's WebSphere, Sun ONE is aimed at enabling an enterprise to make its applications and data available from a Web browser.

The Sun ONE architecture includes the Java 2 Enterprise (J2EE) platform, the Solaris operating system, Sun's Forte programming tools, and its iPlanet service group. ONE includes support for the key Web services-enabling industry standards, including Extensible Markup Language (XML), Universal Description, Discovery, and Integration (UDDI), Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP), Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP), and Web Services Description Language (WDSL).
