Having a SOA infrastructure in place gives organizations a way to leverage Web resources such as Software as a Service (SaaS). Organizations can weave services like enterprise resource planning (ERP) or customer relationship management (CRM) into their SOA infrastructure to make use of the data managed in the cloud.

This allows organizations to leverage Web-based applications like Salesforce.com to improve existing processes or add new ones. These applications can access the data the enterprise is already pushing into the cloud with minimal reformatting.
