New Novell SOA suite supports Linux |

Novell Inc. announced this week at LinuxWorld Conference and Expo the availability of Novell exteNd 5.2, a service-oriented architecture suite that supports Linux from the desktop to the server enabling design and deployment of Web services applications.
ExteNd 5.2 includes visual development tools the enable easier integration of disparate systems that developers can use to build composite applications on a range of application servers and platforms.
ExteNd 5.2 deploys to WebSphere, WebLogic, Tomcat and the exteNd application servers.
The suite will support Linux distributions beyond Novell's SuSE to include Red Hat, as well as Windows, NetWare and Solaris. It also includes PeopleSoft connectivity to its list of integration options.
"Novell exteNd on Linux leverages open source and SOA to provide a proven application platform for our customers," Novell CTO Alan Nugent said in a statement. "With Novell exteNd 5.2, Linux developers can now rapidly design identity-enabled SOA-based applications using intuitive visual design tools directly on their Linux desktops."
Novell exteNd 5.2 is available starting at $50,000 per CPU through
Novell and its channel partners. A free 30-day evaluation is also available
for download.
