Web services security vendor Forum Systems Inc. of Sandy, Utah, announced Wednesday the availability of version 3.0 of its XWall Web services firewall.
XWall 3.0 is the first implementation of WS-I Basic Profile 1.0, which is a guideline for enterprises on how Web services specifications should be used to develop interoperable Web services. The Basic Profile covers specifications including SOAP 1.1, WSDL 1.1, UDDI 2.0, XML 1.0 and XML Schema.
With XWall conforming to Basic Profile 1.0, enterprises can centrally enforce that Web services are interoperable as they are exposed to customers, partners and suppliers.
Forum said XWall 3.0 also permits multiple services to be delivered through Forum's Web Services Virtualization technology, which eliminates the need to distribute multiple WSDL document versions.
Other new features in XWall 3.0 include XML intrusion prevention with SSL and role-based authentication and access control.
XWall 3.0 costs $2,500 for the software, $5,000 in a PCI card and $9,995 for an appliance.
