Westbridge Technology Inc., Mountain View, Calif., has added support in its Web services products for Extensible Business Reporting Language (XBRL), an XML-based financial reporting standard.

Support for the standard has been added to Westbridge's XML Message Server (XMS) and XML firewall. Westbridge said that XMS can be used by financial institutions to ensure that messages received and sent are compliant to XBRL schema, provide security for XBRL communications and ensure data interoperability by providing transformation capabilities.

The Westbridge XMS has been tested with the latest XBRL 2.1 standard, Westbridge said.
