Art Technology Group Inc. (ATG), Cambridge, Mass., said it plans to offer support for Web services in its e-commerce and customer relationship management software.
Customers using ATG for their existing applications will be able to use ATG Web Services to power other initiatives, the company said. By making customer information available to other applications through Web services, companies will be able to integrate multiple channels and customer "touch points" to present a single face to customers, according to ATG.
As an example, the company said, a customer using ATG Commerce will be able to use the same pricing and promotion engines to drive their online store and retail point of sale (POS) applications.
ATG said that its J2EE-based Commerce and Scenario Personalization products will allow Web services-enabled systems, including applications developed in a Microsoft's .NET environment, to access ATG products.
