The OASIS standards body on Monday announced that it has created a technical committee to work on the proposed Business Process Specification Schema (BPSS) for the ebXML standard.
ebXML is a suite of four ratified specifications designed to help organizations conduct business using the Internet. The ebXML Business Process technical committee plans to further define the royalty-free ebXML BPSS model for binary and multiparty business collaborations, both within and between enterprises. ebXML BP will support the exchange of standards-based business process definitions for electronic business collaboration.
"ebXML BP will enable legally enforceable, easily manageable and fully
traceable collaborations," said Dale Moberg of Cyclone Commerce and the proposed co-chairman of the ebXML BP panel.
The OASIS ebXML BP panel will base its work on ebXML BPSS version 1.01, which was jointly developed by OASIS and the United Nations Center for Trade Facilitation and Electronic Business (CEFACT), as well as on related work that it expects will be donated by participating organizations.
Members of the new ebXML BP committee include Sun Microsystems, Cyclone Commerce, Fujitsu and Sterling Commerce. OASIS said it will solicit public comment on the project via a mail list.
