AmberPoint Inc., Oakland, Calif., today released exception management software that it said detects, diagnoses and resolves operational and business exceptions in Web services systems.
AmberPoint said its Exception Manager is able to detect and resolve distributed exceptions, where the clues to the condition reside in multiple messages. The product is standards-based, can run natively in .NET or J2EE environments and requires no additional coding to the Web services themselves, the company said.
In addition, the software also handles exceptions that have business impact, such as flagging an order-fulfillment issue for a business manager before a customer encounters a problem, according to AmberPoint.
"Handling exceptions in asynchronous, services-based architectures requires us to rethink our basic approach to error checking and it has to be factored in early during the development cycle," said Gregor Hohpe, senior architect for systems integrator ThoughtWorks Inc.
