Several products and product upgrades for SOA, including a platform for business process management, an enhanced XML gateway and a semantic integrator, were released in August.

Intalio released Intalio|BPM 6.0, an integrated platform for managing business processes and designed to support deployment to the cloud. The release includes a business rules engine, a document engine, and a user interface engine.

IBM integrated WebSphere DataPower SOA Appliances with Tivoli Security Policy Manager. The integration of the two tool sets allows enterprise architects and security operations teams to centrally manage and enforce security policies for Web services.

Systems monitoring SaaS provider Monitis recently added an on-demand SOAP load testing capability to its WebLoadTester testing suite. Intended specifically for service-oriented architectures, the Amazon EC2-based service allows a tester to choose how many simultaneous users to simulate and to select either a North American or Europe-based point of origin.

Progress Software recently released Progress DataXtend Semantic Integrator (SI) 8.4. DataXtend SI is designed to enable messaging between applications and services within an SOA through the creation of a data interoperability layer.

Metastorm added support of Linux for System Z (zLinux) to its Metastorm Integration Manager (MIM). MIM is a system that can tie together and service-enable legacy systems with modern architecture components.

GT announced the release of its Ivory BMS Studio IDE, which allows users to build Business Mapping Services (BMS) maps in a Windows GUI environment.
