SOAP and SOA test tool vendor Crosscheck Networks said that it acquired XML gateway maker Forum Systems. Forum will become a wholly-owned subsidiary of Crosscheck. Financial terms were not disclosed.

In a twist on the usual acquisition scenario, Forum Systems' President and CTO Mamoon Yunus will become President and CEO of Crosscheck. Yunus served as an advisor to Crosscheck since its founding. Crosscheck's Rizwan Mallal will serve as Vice President of Operations for the Crosscheck's new Forum division.

The two companies have had ongoing partnerships according to Yunus. He said Crosscheck will start to sell its Forum Sentry XML Gateway along with its SOAPSimulator and SOAPSonar testing framework.

"This will bring the tools together with the Gateway XML product line. We will follow standards but you will see tighter integration, and quicker integrations," said Yunus.

He said XML gateways can play a unique role in observing transactions in production. Because they act as standalone proxies, they are non-intrusive, he said.
