Business Process Management (BPM) provider Metastorm, recently released Metastorm Integration Manager Version 8.5, which better enables business users to view and interact with data and configurations.

The integration manager offers advanced support for managed file transfers, a sometimes overlooked aspect of BPM. The software is said to provide an alternative to unmanaged FTP systems.

"We've worked with customers on giving process owners more control," said Greg Carter, CTO and VP of Product Development for Metastorm. The product will "allow end users to manage processes they rely on for data," he continued.

Carter said Metastorm essentially wanted to "enable end users. The Metastorm BPM suite allows customers to manage both integration-centric and human-centric process activities and audit trails from a single interface and provides integrated business activity monitoring.

Version 8.5 also allows admins to create custom security measures. Administrators can segment which users can view and interact with specific data, audit reports, and configuration elements while offering hierarchical views and advanced filtering capabilities.

Carter said the company has always placed a serious emphasis on the modeling - or user side - of BPM.

"We're not just generic process management," Carter said, "we describe ourselves as a processing and modeling company." He said modeling increases understanding.

Carter noted that the release also adds new Web-based service technology modeling capabilites and expanded platform support. Version 8.5 supports twenty different operating systems including IBM WebSphere MQ 7, Java 6, recent versions of Windows, as well as other platforms.
