Active Endpoints recently announced a deal that sees Seros, a provider of consulting and pre-integrated open-standards based Web services software, offering Active Endpoints' ActiveVOS as its core technology for orchestration. The partnership seeks to ride the trend that sees software providers and software channel players providing visual modeling tools for Business Process Management (BPM).

ActiveVOS seems like a good fit for Seros, as it provides standards-based visual orchestrating for creating SOA and BPM applications, according to the company. Spence Jeffries, vice president of business development for Seros explained that ActiveVOS does not rely on BPEL orchestration and work with imported WSDLs import.

"To get the most power out of SOA you need orchestration as the center," said Jeffries.

SOA is constantly evolving, and recently there has been quite a bit of buzz surrounding the architects in government and their current problems with SOA.

Jeffries said architects are struggling with the gap between the promise of SOA and its successful implementation.

However, Jeffries believes ActiveVOS could simplify the process, and not just for government architects. "It will make life easier for architects in any large heterogeneous environment," he said.

Basically, it's all about being efficient and being able to keep up with constant evolution of SOA, and visual orchestration systems allow for both.

"We are a relativity new company, and we've taken a very different approach to SOA. Whether it's our solution or something else that creates a much higher degree of flexibility--that is what is needed for the market place," said Jeffries.
