Mainframe integration software vendor NEON Systems Inc. announced today a new SOAP-based mainframe integration product, Shadow z/services, that converts CICS, IMS and Advantage CA-IDMS applications into Web services.
Shadow z/Services lessens the programming load that accompanies the creation of mainframe-based Web services from scratch. Instead, it allows Java and .NET developers to use skills and tools they possess to speed up the reuse of mainframe resources to support new business needs.
Shadow z/Services' introspection technology enables developers to parse application logic and screen definitions and generate a Web Services Description Language (WSDL), NEON Systems said in a statement. For screen-based application, developers can use the application to orchestrate a logical flow between several screens to support a business process. That microflow can then be published as a Web service.
Shadow z/Services' Web services client component enables mainframe application developers to invoke external Web services from CICS/TS, Advantage CA-IDMS, and Batch. Developers need no SOAP or WSDL experience to run the product, NEON said.
Features include single-step configuration, dynamic introspection, microflow orchestration, a SOAP parser and support for several security infrastructures.
