Computer Associates International Inc. has jumped into the Web services management market.
At its CA World user conference in Las Vegas Monday, the systems management leader released Web Services Distributed Management (WSDM) r3.1. Customers can buy it as a standalone product or as a hosted service from CA. They need only register their Web services and WSDM will monitor the services and report events and performance results.
WSDM is a bundle of CA's Unicenter and eTrust offerings and can be used by enterprises that have adopted a service-oriented architecture design principle, the company said. WSDM also keeps an eye on XML, CORBA, EDI and other technologies as companies migrate from those to Web services.
WSDM automatically discovers services and their dependencies. Features include support for a range of platforms and protocols, an Observer Development Kit that eases integration with other products.
"The ability of IT organizations to successfully implement on-demand computing is largely contingent upon their ability to effectively manage and secure service-oriented architectures," CA chief technology officer Yogesh Gupta said in a statement. "Today's new products and partnerships enable CA customers to meet these service-centric management and security challenges regardless of the complexity and heterogeneity of their underlying IT infrastructures."
CA also announced new partnerships with Web services management vendors Cape
