BEA release enables inexpensive Java development

Staff reports

BEA Systems Inc. announced Wednesday the release of BEA WebLogic Workshop Professional Edition, application infrastructure software that enables developers to create and deploy Java or service-based applications for less than $1,000.

BEA WebLogic Workshop, Professional Edition provides a scale-limited commercial deployment license for all platform applications and one year of development support.

BEA said the professional edition platform suits developers wanting to deploy pilot or departmental applications on BEA WebLogic.

The platform will be sold through resellers and directly from BEA's Web site. BEA WebLogic Workshop, Free Edition continues to be available through BEA's dev2dev developer community site.
