WebMethods Inc. announced on Monday that it will license and resell Composite Software Inc.'s enterprise information integration (EII) software.
Fairfax, Va.-based WebMethods said that by adding Composite Information Server from San Mateo, Calif.-based Composite Software to its software offerings, it now has products that cover enterprise application integration (EAI), EII and Web services. WebMethods recently announced that it would acquire The Mind Electric Inc., a maker of Web services development tools.
EII software such as the Composite Information Server are designed to allow applications to access business data from multiple disparate sources as if it exists in a single location. When Composite launched the product -- its first -- two weeks ago, the company said that it will allow IT organizations to deliver "views" to any client software that supports SOAP/WSDL or JDBC/ODBC, including portals, spreadsheets and business intelligence tools.
WebMethods said it plans to resell the Composite Information Server to its customer base of 1,000 organizations. The two companies will also undertake joint marketing and sales activities.
In related news, Composite Software chief executive Jim Green is scheduled to talk about the EII market at this week's WebMethods Integration World 2003 user conference in Orlando, Fla.
