Travel industry group rolls out Web service

Staff report

Sabre Travel Network, South Lake, Texas, has announced the rollout of its Sabre Web Services offering, which provides travel agents with access to the company's global distribution system (GDS) using OpenTravel Alliance (OTA) standards.

Sabre Web Services makes use of XML and SOAP technologies to allow developers a single standards-based access point to the GDS. This eliminates the need for agents and Web developers to understand proprietary codes and programming languages to connect their systems to the disparate data sources needed to create bookable Web-based travel offerings, according to Sabre.
