UCLA rolls out Web services-based e-payment system

Staff report

The University of California, Los Angeles, has chosen CyberSource Corp., Mountain View, Calif., to provide electronic payment software that is based on Microsoft's Web services architecture using .NET technology.

The new UCLA system, called CyberPay, uses CyberSource's Payment Manager as a processing engine to centralize all credit card payments made to the university, including payments for tuition, housing, parking, event tickets and pre-paid debit instruments known as BruinCards. These payments can be made online or through point-of-sale systems. CyberSource Professional Services also designed and built the gateway application that allows campus payment centers easy migration to the new system.
