Middleware market booming

IDC, a research firm in Framingham, Mass., projects middleware and businessware market revenues will increase at a compound annual growth rate of 12 %, from $3.4 billion in 2000 to a healthy $6 billion in 2005. The largest and fastest-growing segment will be the businessware management systems market, now about $1.3 billion in revenue and expected to reach $4 billion by 2005. Message-oriented middleware revenues will also increase, from $528.5 million in 2000 to $741 million in 2005.

Vertel now selling Java OM

Vertel Corp., a provider of middleware for telecommunications networks, Woodland Hills, Calif., is now selling the Java Edition of its Object Management product line. The OM product line provides network management functionality for embedded equipment applications, telecom management applications and integration with legacy as well as next generation operations support systems in both C++ and Java.

Cape Clear selling Cape Studio

Cape Clear Software, a provider of Web Services technology in Campbell, Calif., has released its CapeStudio Web Services development product, a rapid application development tool for building and deploying Web services and for integrating software systems. The product incorporates feedback from more than 1,000 testers and adds support for Microsoft BizTalk schemas, a UDDI browser, improved XML mapping, and support for Enterprise JavaBeans.It costs $445 per user.

Digex expands application support offering

Digex Inc., Laurel, Md., a managed Web and application hosting service provider, is expanding its application support offering, Digex AppSupport Services, with standard application support for BEA WebLogic 6.0. Digex also has realigned its professional services organization with the introduction of the Digex Application Optimization Center to help customers enhance their application performance.

Altiris creates new product suites

Altiris Inc., Lindon, Utah, announced three new product suites that extend and enhance Microsoft's Systems Management Server functionality. All of the new suites include a new version of Altiris Web Admin for SMS that allows administrators access to all SMS functions from any Web browser.
