Interbind releases Java-based Web services tools

Interbind Inc., a New York-based provider of Web services technology, said it has released IBX version 1.0, its Java-based software that supports Web services applications. The software can operate as a container for both client and service code to extend application logic for use in new Web services, said Interbind.

Interbind said IBX enables companies to leverage Web services to support fully automated relationships across multiple enterprises. IBX supports a "pluggable protocol" architecture allowing companies to implement their choice of communications and messaging protocols through the simple modification of XML templates, the company said.

Open Market technology integrated with iPlanet Portal Server

Open Market said it now offers an integrated solution with the iPlanet Portal Server 3.0 from iPlanet E-Commerce Solutions, a Sun-Netscape Alliance. This integration provides interoperability between the iPlanet Portal Server and Open Market's CSEE software through a software plug-in, a feature designed for companies deploying information-rich portals.

Open Market said its Content Server Enterprise Edition allows business users to create, edit, approve, publish and dynamically deliver content to a variety of destinations and devices. With this integration, iPlanet Portal Server "channels" are used to access Open Market's applications and the content they manage. Another channel allows iPlanet Portal Server users to access news and company information that is targeted to their role in the organization, said Open Market.

UN/CEFACT and OASIS introduce ebXML-Dev mail list

UN/CEFACT and OASIS said they have created ebXML-Dev, a mail list for the ebXML development community. Hosted by OASIS, ebXML-Dev provides a forum for ebXML developers and those interested in implementing ebXML to share information and experiences, the organization said. The forum announcement follows the recent ratification of the ebXML specifications, which facilitate open trade between organizations regardless of size by enabling XML to be used in a consistent manner to exchange electronic business data.

"OASIS will host the list as a service to the community, but the content of the discussions will be driven by the participants themselves," said Karl Best, OASIS director of technical operations.
