Nexaweb Technologies, Inc., today announced the release of Nexaweb Enterprise Web 2.0 with visual design tools and management features, as well as interoperability with governance tools from Layer 7 Inc., and Hewlett-Packard Inc.

The new product is aimed at enterprise and public sector organizations working on rich Internet applications (RIAs), composite applications, and enterprise mashups, the company said.

Rob Gagne, Nexaweb's vice president of engineering, said of the visual editor and development environment in the new tool make it possible for developers to create RIAs by dragging and dropping components.

"We have a brand new visual editor, which allows you to use our declarative XML markup, our declarative data bindings, and our event model to build applications, such as semantically compliant mashup applications," he said. "What this allows you to do is drag and drop components onto your canvas where you're building the application and through data binding be able to pull data into the application from Web services, and map it to your components. Then you can use our event model, a new workflow we provide within the development environment, to hook one component's events to drive another components data so you can have cross-component communication. So when a user clicks on one component or some data element within one component that can cause another component to populate with data.
