W3C forms WS-Addressing working group

The World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) announced it has created a new working group to draft recommendations for the WS-Addressing specification.

WS-Addressing was submitted to W3C in August. The spec outlines a standard way for referencing and addressing network end points receiving Web services messages. The specification was submitted by Microsoft, Sun, IBM, Sun and BEA.

W3C said the working group will work to standardize the referencing and addressing mechanisms, which are message headers that direct messages to a Web service. The working group will also define SOAP 1.1 and WSDL 1.1 bindings.

Mark Nottingham, principal technologist at BEA Systems, will chair the committee.
