SAML 2.0 unifies support for federation

The next version of the Security Assurance Markup Language specification, SAML 2.0, is due out this summer. The new spec is expected to combine the federation frameworks developed by the Liberty Alliance with the single sign-on capabilities of SAML 1.0.
