If a company is using EDI for electronic invoicing and payment of freight bills via the Web, how will another electronic bill/pay system
using XML integrate with it? Or can it?
EDI (electronic data interface) is so expensive for a company to set up, so wouldn't the freedom of XML be a better way to go?

EXPERT RESPONSE
It is possible to convert EDI messages to/from XML quite easily in syntax
terms. Certainly using XML notation brings with it a lot of tool and
mind-share support. One possibility would be to use XML up and down-stream
of the existing EDI system thus ring fencing the
complexities of EDI while building on the facilities already in place.
