QUESTION POSED ON: 03 October 2001
Can you briefly explain what Wireless JMS is?

>
JMS (Java Message Service) is the API standard for accessing message oriented middleware from within Java applications. Wireless JMS means Java Message Service compatible middleware for mobile devices. The JMS programming model can thus be used on both the mobile device, and on the "back-end" server infastructure. Mobile applications can thus use JMS topics and queues to interact straight-through with Java applications running on a J2EE applications server. Wireless JMS takes care of storing and forwarding messages, and allows for disconnected operation of mobile applications. Since the same programming model is used on both the client and the server side, the development of interactive, mobile systems is greatly simplified. Any type of content can be delivered through Wireless JMS: Text, Binary, XML, Multimedia, etc.
