Some standards do, those that are related to what you're working on. For instance, I watch the reference architectures, and the Web services transaction standards, however I don't track all of them...it's almost impossible. Unfortunately standards have turned into marketing mechanisms, thus the number of them out there. They have to prove themselves, thus time will tell.
