Why are my XML files blank?

Some of my XML files appear to be blank when they are opened in internet explorer. What could be the reason for this?

It may be that the XML files contain only markup (typically, tags) and no content. Look at the source using "view source" to find out. It may also be that a stylesheet is being applied that is not generating any HTML content
