Q

Which are the most important Web services standards?

Can you tell me please which are the most important Web services standards? I assume WSDL, but are there others I need to be aware of?
I would say that SOAP is the standard that is providing the most value. WSDL, also needed, is really just another interface definition language (IDL) similar to Corba's IDL. SOAP provides the ability to invoke remote application services through firewalls, is simple to understand, very easy to implement, and platform independent. SOAP is becoming the mechanism that binds applications together, no matter where they exist.
