What's needed for widescale EAI adoption?

From the numbers I've seen, EAI vendors have only made small inroads into the Global 2000. The economy aside, what's needed from the vendors (e.g., Tibco) for widescale adoption? What's the problem - TCO, ease of implementation, FUD spread by the top App vendors?

We are in the middle of an IT recession, so that has slowed things down considerably. Indeed, we do need to address the application integration problem within most enterprises and most have done very little work if any. As time goes on, as with other technologies, the need will drive the market including the rise of application integration technology from Tibco, Mercator, SeeBeyond, WebMethods, etc...What's more, enterprises will see application integration for what it is, a strategic necessity.
