EAI is mostly about the needs of a single enterprise, the ability to exchange information and applications services freely in support of business events. However, lately we've seen a shift in application integration, especially around vertical standards, in support of industries holistically. Examples including HIPPA for healthcare, OMGEO for FS and RosettaNet for high technology manufacturing, all integration standards.
