Value returned in XML file
I have created a variable called cname and set its value in a Javascript. I would like to have the value returned in my XML file.

Load the XML file into a DOM. Then from Javascript, you can navigate to the place where cname needs to go and set the value.

Alternatively you could create the XML string piece by piece e.g. "<layout>....<object>.." + cname + "</object>...";
