Q

Difference between a servlet container and a Web container

What is the difference between a servlet container, an application server and a Web container? A servlet container...

is specifically designed to manage servlets only, while an application server manages many different types of software components including EJBs, JSPs, message publishers and subscribers, etc.

A servlet container can be considered part of an application server, since J2EE application servers provide a servlet container within their complete infrastructure.
